Make sure that your windows are locked

Check all your windows to make sure that they are locked. This is not just for security. On nearly all windows, the weatherstripping seals better when they are completely closed and locked. The locking mechanism usually pulls all the mating sealing surfaces a little tighter together.

What made me think of this was that it was very cold here in Cincinnati this morning. My second story windows were all closed tightly, but two in my bedroom were not locked. I noticed a slight draft from them until I locked them. They are double-hung vinyl windows.
