Hardy Perennial. Yucca filamentosa is a stemless, clump-forming, evergreen perennial with an excellent form for architectural landscaping. This is a versatile plant that does not require a great deal of care and will provide distinctive texture to a garden site. The flowering stem bursts open into a tower of white, bell-shaped flowers in summer. Be cautious when working around these large perennials as they have very sharp, pointed spiny leaves. Useful as an specimen plants or as substitutes for shrubs and are evergreen through winter. The flower stem may reach as high as 15 feet, but this is rare. Different cultivars provide a wide range of foliage color and texture. Some recommended cultivars are 'Bright Edge' and 'Golden Sword'.
