Tender or Hardy Perennial. A. nemerosa is a vigorous, carpet-forming perennial that is fully hardy to Zone 4. The Wood Anemone produces masses of star-shaped white, pink or blue flowers in the spring and early summer. The foliage is deeply cut and a medium green. This plant likes a woodland setting and thrives in humus-rich, well-drained soil. Plant in full sun or part shade. A beautiful naturalizer for the woodland garden. The variety Anemone nemerosa alenii is highly recommended for its flowers which are blue streaked with dark red. The cultivar 'Blue Beauty' is one of the tallest and most beautiful plants in the family. 'Flore Pleno' is recommended as one of the best white-flowering forms available. To make root cuttings, soak the ground and carefully break off a piece of root, taking some soil along with it.
