Hardy Biennial. A low, clump-forming perennial grown as a biennial. With downy green leaves and sprays of tiny bright flowers, this plant is a good choice for a rock garden or the bog garden. It is effective when interplanted with bulbs, especially tulips, and in woodlands. It prefers full sun to part shade and a rich, moist soil. Blue and pink flowers may appear on the same plant. 'Ultramarine' has intense blue blooms while 'Carmine King' bears pink flowers in profusion.
