Hardy Biennial. This biennial is grown for its flower stalks of pink, purple or white flowers that become silvery, paper-like seed pods widely used in floral and dried arrangements. They are light catchers and can be used in mixed arrangements or alone. It is fast-growing and prefers part shade and good garden soil with excellent drainage. Will self-sow readily and can tolerate some drought. Sow early in the spring in mild climate areas for use as an annual or in mid-summer if growing as a biennial.
