Biennial. These gorgeous flowers are difficult to grow in many parts of the United States. Where cool nights and warm days promote their strong growth, delphiniums are perfect tall plants for the back of the border. The beautiful flowers and finely cut leaves are a big attraction for this plant. Flowers all summer if deadheaded and the blooms make an excellent cut flower. 'Blue Butterfly' is the pictured cultivar.
