Hardy Annual. Low-growing, bushy annual with gentian blue, upturned bell-shaped flowers with long, yellow stamens. Foliage is fragrant when crushed, but the sap may be a skin irritant to some people, so be cautious and wear garden gloves when working with this selection. They make handsome low borders and are suitable for rock gardens, too. All phacelias require hot, dry days and cool nights, and full sunshine is imperative. Sow seeds outdoors in spring or late autumn. Does not like to be transplanted. Happily, this is another plant which attracts pollinators, mainly butterflies and bees. Phacelias are extremely effective in masses.
