Hardy Annual. Rich blue, thistle-like blooms grace this hardy annual. Purple, pink, white, maroon, lavender or red are a few of the colors this flower comes in, depending on the cultivar you purchase. Silvery foliage is the backdrop for these charming flowers which bloom from summer through early fall. This is an excellent cut flower. They bloom so prolifically with so little care that they often are the first plants that children grow on their own. You may deadhead to prolong flowering. Thrives in full sun except in scorching summer heat and will tolerate part-shade. Well-drained or even poor soil will do. Darkness is necessary for seed germination; successive sowings and plantings will provide continuous blooms. Will tolerate drought conditions.
