You do have central air, not a window unit, don't you?

Do you have a steel box outside that your compressor and condenser sit inside of? Or is your compressor just sitting out there on the lawn? Should you put a tarp over the box? WHY BOTHER?
I'm talking about whether I should cover my compressor for my AC outside.

I didn't say anything about oil heaters or breakers???

There had better be a breaker inside your breaker box that serves only the air conditioning compressor, or someone needs a real serious butt realignment. Trust me, there are oil heaters inside the compressor crankcase.
