AC Compressor Cover

I just had central air conditioning installed this past summer and was wondering what I should do to winterize the AC compressor outside. Should or should I not cover it? Some people I have asked said that they never cover their compressor. Someone else said that you had to be careful with covering the unit because you do not want condensation to form--thus eventually causing rust in the long term. Does anyone have any thoughts on this topic?
