We are relocating our washer and dryer to the basement laundry room to free up the existing room as a pantry. Our concern is the length needed for the dryer to vent outside. Are there auxillary vent fans available to boost the venting air up and out of the basement area following the line of ceiling joists?
We recently had a hybrid heat pump installed in our house to help our heating expenses during the cold northern Michigan winters. The H/C contractor we contracted with thought there was such a fan but was not positive. In total we will need to run a venting pipe up the height of the basement wall (approx. 8 ft.)and run an extension pipe (6 ft.) to connect with the current venting system. In total I estimate a distance of approximatey 20 feet. Running the vent to the nearest outside wall creates several problems including the following:
-the HVAC unit is right outside where a vent would be located. Lint, etc. would be a major problem in the coils.
