Blower Motor Whining

Blower Whining –

I recently had a Rheem modulating furnace and two-zone heating/cooling installed. They also installed a 10 inch bypass damper and a 3.5 ton air conditioner.

I had a problem with my blower motor whining which was caused by too much backpressure in my duct work. The contractor is talking about two solutions.

1.Increase my bypass damper to 12 inches.
2.Reduce my blower speed.

Is one option preferred or does it not matter?
